Souders
Motorsports works hard for top 20 finish.
Beloit, OH -
Rusty Wallace had a vision to bring the finest short track racing to
America's heartland. That vision became a reality when he designed the
beautiful Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa. Three years ago, the Hooters
Pro Cup Series opened the 7/8 mile track, and have been going back ever
since. Ronnie Souders made his first trip to Iowa this season to try to
conquer the house that Rusty built. The day was filled with obstacles to
overcome, but the team would step up to the challenge. The first
obstacle to overcome was manpower. The long distance from Ohio to Iowa
made it difficult for some of the usual team members to make the
race. The second obstacle was tires. BF Goodrich has been trying as hard
as they can to figure out the tire combination for this track, and have
been closing in on it very well. The third obstacle showed it's
face during practice, as Ronnie cut a right front and slapped the wall.
The
crew went to work to repair the car, and make changes so that it
wouldn't happen again. After making the necessary changes, Ronnie was
set to qualify after having very limited practice.
