Ronnie Souders shakes off an injury to finish 20th at MMP
Beloit, OH- One week ago, after coming home from Bristol, Ronnie was playing hockey, and he took a stick to the chin. It busted him up a
little, and he had stitches in his lip that were removed two days before the Charlie Campbell Memorial 250. Still sore from the injury,
Ronnie sucked it up and climbed into the Farmer Bob's Campground Chevy. The number 75 Impala fell behind early, but a caution flag put him
back on the lead lap where he would stay for the rest of the day. However, the race would not be smooth sailing from there.
A spin right in front of Ronnie forced him high, and he made slight contact with the outside wall. A later spin would cause him to
stop completely to avoid the incident and give up a lot of track position late in the race. That caution was a very costly one for Souders,
it put him back in the field where trouble would eventually find him around lap 200 when a car spun in front of him and as he checked up,
he went for a spin, as did the car behind him, and they made some contact. Ronnie hung on to the lead lap for the remainder of the race to
finish 20th in the Championship Series opener in his back yard at Mansfield. “I’m real glad we were able to stay up there on the lead lap
tonight. Today was a special day for us, we had a guest, Sgt. Alan Stevens, here who just returned home from Iraq. This was his first
race, and I am glad that he was able to come home safe to join us,” said Ronnie.
